Born in Guatemala, I immigrated to the United States when I was 4. My heart has been split between two homes: Guatemala City and New York City. I was fortunate to have grown up in a major city that is constantly booming with all kinds of art. My biggest passion has always been and will always be the arts: from performing to literature to visual to tactile, etc.
I have always been a storyteller. I leaned into fiction as a child, but as someone who lives in many many marginalized identities, my life became the basis of my own creativity.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film from Hunter College in 2020. Although I have shifted my focus to less narrative and more experimental and documentary (because of circumstances, not choice), I still choose to be intentional about how I capture people's lives. Generally, I want to better tell stories I needed when I was growing up, and the ones I wish I see now as an adult.
I think the beauty in art is that the artist has the freedom and capabilities to share something about themselves or others through various mediums. I intend to use that to its full potential.
